Finding Your Venue

Finding Your Venue

One of the most exciting things about planning a wedding is finding your venue – the destination for you to marry the love of your life. Sounds cheesy, but aside from the dress, the setting for your big day is arguably the most important thing about the celebration. It’s in the photos, it’s what makes you feel comfortable with your family and friends around. So, how do you find that perfect place?

Throughout this blog I’m going to take you through the process I took to find my dream venue: Granary Estates.

To start our search I looked for venues near our parent’s home in Suffolk. I sent hundreds of emails to different places to get quotes and an idea of availability. I didn’t really have any idea of timescale with these things, so wanted to know exactly how far in advance we realistically would need to book our date. Once we had some more information, we created a shortlist of three venues and booked in to visit.

The moment we stepped into Granary Estates, we knew it was our venue. We both felt emotional and in love straight away – we had that gut feeling. It was only the second venue we visited.

You walk into the smaller barn first which is mainly used for the ceremonies. The wooden beams are often beautifully decorated with vines and fairy lights to brighten the room with large windows on the right hand side to bring in that gorgeous natural sunlight. The capacity for this space is 88 and it is the perfect intimate space for a smaller wedding. While this venue doesn’t have a huge aisle for brides, it does have a beautiful, natural feel to it and really is a blank canvas for couples to dress as they wish.

Once it’s legal, and the wedding day can move into its party stages, the venue offers a gorgeous glass corridor leading down to the larger barn along with an outdoor courtyard. It’s a beautiful space that you can completely make your own; we are planning to dress the corridor with tea lights and candles. The outdoor space is large enough for a drinks reception and any extra entertainment you might like such as garden games. While your guests can enjoy the courtyard and pose for group photos, Granary Estates has a huge amount of land around the main venue area for the bride and groom to disappear for their private shots. If you like an outdoor, natural feel to your photos, Granary Estates can definitely offer that.

Partying into the evening; the dance floor is in the main barn. Imagine a barn wedding on Pinterest, and this is what you’d probably expect from this space. High ceilings, black wooden decor, classic stone walls. The barn doors open out to the courtyard and the whole space just feels so relaxing and fun. When we first visited it was Christmas time and the venue had an incredible Christmas tree, making it feel even more magical.

When choosing your venue, you’re not only choosing the four walls and beautiful interior. You are also choosing your venue support for pulling your big day together. The team at Granary Estates have been nothing but fantastic. Nothing has ever been too much; our dreams and wishes have always been first when discussing options and ideas with them. This has been especially important during COVID-19 with cancellations and rearranging things with suppliers.

As you have probably gathered, I highly recommend Granary Estates. I hope this blog and photos will inspire you while on the hunt for your dream venue.
